Adventures
Whatever you would like to do in East Africa, I can help. Here are my most popular requests. If you're interested in learning more, contact me.
Climbing Mount Kenya
Africa's second tallest mountain has three main summits and I can guide you to any of them
- Climbing the true summit, Baitan, which is 5,199 meters. This involves technical climbing.
- Climbing Nelion, the second highest point on Mount Kenya. This is also a technical climb.
- Hiking to Lenala. This is the most popular activity on Mount Kenya and can be done by anyone who is in decent shape. It does NOT require ropes and technical climbing. It's just a standard hike. But it's still tough!
When you book for technical climbing for Nelion and Batian, it is good to book an one extra day as a buffer.
Three popular itineraries to traverse the mountain
1. Climb the Chogoria route, which is on the east side of the Mount Kenya and takes 4 to 6 days. You can descend either the Naromoru route or the Sirimon route.
2. Climb up the Sirimon route and descend either the Chogoria route or Naromoru route. It takes 4 to 6 days.
3. Climb up the Naromoru route and you can descend either the Chogoria route or Sirimon route. It takes 3 to 5 days.
Cost
My climbing fees for climbing Mount Kenya are between $810 to $2,160, depending on whether you do 3 to 7 days.
If you like to climb the technical Nelion and Batian summits, then you should add $900 for a technical climbing guide.
The more people in the group, the cheaper the per-person cost is.
Climbing Mount Kenya takes anywhere from three days to a week, depending on where you want to climb. The cost will depend on what you want to do. Contact Kim for details.
Climbing Kilimanjaro
Although climbing Africa's tallest peak is not a technical climb, you must have a guide. That's where we come in.
We offer 5 to 7 days depending on which route you like.
Kilimanjaro costs between $2,400 to $2,700, depending on the number of people.
Depending on what you want to do, my guiding fee changes, so contact me.
Climbing Mount Stanley in the Rwenzori Mountains
If you reach Margarita Peak, which is the summit of Mount Stanley, you will on Africa's third tallest mountain (5,100 meters).
It will take 6 to 9 days to get to the summit.
The Rwenzori mountains cost between $2,100 and $2,500, depending on the number of hikers.
The Triple Play
Kim guides two women to the top of Mount Kenya and beyond.
Would you like to knock off Africa's three biggest peaks? I offer a package deal of doing all of them in less than three weeks. Contact me for details.
Safari
Whether you climb East Africa's mountains or not, you must go on a safari. I will be your safari guide who will make a custom itinerary that is best for your needs.
Safaris cost $600 to $900 per day, depending on the accommodation you prefer (anything from a luxury hotel to a tented camp).
If you prefer a really comfortable safari, I work with the Best Luxury Safaris.
I also can take you whitewater rafting.
